As your Representative in Congress, my role is to shape federal law, oversee federal spending, and advocate directly for Maryland’s 5th District at the national level.
Here is what I can legally and responsibly do:
I cannot control state or local taxes, zoning laws, or set grocery prices directly. But I can shape the federal policies that influence those costs and advocate aggressively for Maryland families.
My commitment is to use every legal tool available to reduce pressure on working households and strengthen our local economy.

Maryland families are feeling pressure from rising costs. Groceries, rent, healthcare, childcare, and energy bills are stretching household budgets. As your Representative in Congress, I will focus on practical, legally grounded actions that provide immediate relief while strengthening our long-term economic foundation.
Congress has the authority to tax and spend for the general welfare of the United States. That authority must be used responsibly and strategically. My economic plan is built on accountability, transparency, and measurable results.
Here are six immediate actions I will pursue.
Working families deserve relief now. I will support restoring and expanding the Child Tax Credit and making it fully refundable so families receive monthly support. When parents have more disposable income, they spend it locally, strengthening small businesses and stabilizing our district economy.
How it will be funded:
By closing offshore corporate tax loopholes, strengthening enforcement against high-income tax evasion, and reforming inefficient corporate subsidy programs that do not benefit working families.
Healthcare costs are one of the largest financial burdens facing families. I will support expanding Medicare’s authority to negotiate prescription drug prices and capping the cost of essential medications.
How it will be funded:
Expanding drug price negotiation generates federal savings. Those savings can be reinvested to stabilize healthcare costs and reduce out-of-pocket expenses for families.
Lower drug prices reduce federal spending and household expenses at the same time.
Small businesses drive local employment and economic resilience. I will advocate for expanding access to low-interest federal small business loans and simplifying grant programs so local entrepreneurs can grow and hire.
How it will be funded:
By reprioritizing existing Small Business Administration funds, improving oversight to prevent misuse, and redirecting underperforming corporate development incentives.
Economic growth must begin at the local level.
Strategic infrastructure investment creates jobs immediately and strengthens long-term economic competitiveness. I will support accelerating transportation, broadband, and energy modernization projects that directly benefit Maryland’s 5th District, with local hiring priorities.
How it will be funded:
Through already-authorized federal infrastructure allocations and stronger contract oversight to eliminate waste and inefficiency.
Infrastructure is not an expense. It is an investment in economic stability.
Energy prices impact every household expense. I will support expanding federal home energy-efficiency programs and weatherization initiatives to lower families' monthly utility bills.
How it will be funded: By reallocating outdated energy subsidies and strengthening public-private partnerships focused on consumer cost reduction.
Lower utility bills act as immediate financial relief for working families.
No child should learn on an empty stomach. I will support expanding the National School Lunch Program to guarantee free breakfast and lunch for every public school student.
How it will be funded:
By streamlining administrative costs currently used for income eligibility processing, reforming agricultural subsidy distribution, and responsibly reallocating within the federal nutrition budget.
Universal school meals reduce bureaucracy, eliminate stigma, and ease pressure on family budgets.
